Ways to Add Steps to Your Day

There are a lot of different ways you can add to your daily step count.  (And no, sitting and shaking your pedometer does not count!)

  • Walk down the hall to see a co-worker
  • Take the stairs when possible, instead of the elevator
  • Park farther from the office, the store, or wherever you drive
  • Walk the kids to school instead of driving them
  • Take the dog for a walk.  Or the cat.  Or the hampster... why not?
  • Take a break from work and walk around the building
  • Go fly a kite
  • Do your grocery shopping in the order you have items listed, instead of going aisle-by-aisle. (Unless that's how you list your groceries.  Then you've got bigger problems!)
  • Chase the kids around the house

I love my pedometer!
I have been wearing pedometers for a little over 2 years now, and I have - to date - 3,691,372 steps! I keep a weekly journal of my progress (I also belong to Weight Watchers and exercise at my local Curves 5 days a week - as well as going for walks and running). So, I am very active. Wearing a pedometer adds in the joy of accomplishments that I am bringing upon myself. I believe that everyone should own one!
